FAQs

How do I know which trip is right for me? Do I need experience?

Each trip description on our website includes the level of experience required for the trip. If you have any questions about that, please feel free to reach out and chat with us about any past adventurous activities you've done to see if your desired trip is the right fit for you! Many of the side excursions (kayaking, canoeing, biking, horseback riding, trail running, ATVs, snowmobiling, etc.) require no prior experience!

Use this quick guide for backpacking and hiking to see which category you fall into:

-Beginner: You have never camped or backpacked, and do small day hikes every now and then. You also don't have the gear yet, and have lots of questions about how it all works, but you're excited and curious about getting into it! You are able to hike up to 8 miles per day with a loaded backpack.

-Intermediate: You've been backpacking, camping, and hiking a few times and would feel comfortable going with a group of friends. You have some of the gear but it spends more time tucked away in the closet than you'd like. You would be able to hike 8-12 miles per day with a full backpack.

-Advanced: You know what you're doing, you have all of your own gear and know how to use it. You would feel comfortable going out for a night or two on your own or with friends and are in shape to hike 12-15 miles per day with a full backpack.

Will I be able to keep up?

Generally when hiking and backpacking with multiple people, the group naturally splits into a 'faster' group of hikers and a 'slower' group. It happens naturally and it's a great way to ensure that everyone gets the most out of their hike, and also helps to keep people from feeling either rushed or like they're waiting around. Your guide will split their time with each paced group throughout the hike. If you're worried about feeling too slow, make sure that the trip you chose fits your level of experience. Most trips also allow a few months of prep time so that you can make sure you're ready for the adventure!

Do you provide gear?

We are excited to now offer gear rentals through our friends at Inspiring Hikes out of Bluefield, WV. What they offer is everything you would need for our backpacking trips, minus some clothing, and of course food. Let us know if you are interested in renting and we'll get you connected.

What should I bring?

Before each trip, you'll receive an email with a packing list specific to your destination. That packing list will also include the information of what meals you need to provide for yourself and may include suggestions on what types of food to bring.

What do I pay for on my own outside of the trip cost?

You will need to cover your airfare, your meals, and any tips for guides of excursions we'll be on. Some trip costs will include some meals, which will be noted in the trip description.

Is there an age limit?

You must be at least 18 to travel with us. We love for our trips to have a nice age range of guests! Our average trip age range is about 25-60.

Can I request a trip to a special location?

Yes! Let us know where you want to go, and we'll get to work planning an itinerary for that location.

Can The Girls Trip Adventure Co. plan a private trip for me and my girlfriends?

ABSOLUTELY! And we would love to. Birthdays, bachelorettes, divorces, or 'just because', we want to celebrate it with you outside.

Should I tip my Girls Trip guide?

While not required, it is always appreciated :)

Do I need travel insurance?

It is recommended to purchase travel insurance, though not required.

What if I need to cancel my trip?

We understand that things happen and sometimes cancellations arise. To book your trip and hold your spot, we require a deposit, which is non-refundable.

If you cancel 60-90 days before the trip date, anything you have paid beyond your deposit will be refunded.

If you cancel 30-59 days before the trip, half of what you have paid, beyond the deposit, will be refunded

If you cancel 29 days before the trip, your payments are non-refundable.
